Spring Art Exhibitions 2024

Museums in Stockholm (and around the world) had a tough time during the pandemic.With the lifting of restrictions, all museums in Stockholm are open for business. If you will be visiting Stockholm during the months of Spring, there are many great art exhibtions to see. If art isn't your cup of tea, don't miss the many wonderful history museums in the city.
- Fotografiska (photography)- They have several ongoing and upcoming exhibitions, including Elizaveta Porodina (until June 12th), Andres Serrano "Infamous" (until May 19th) and Tobias Gremmler "The Changing Room" (until April 24th).
- National (classic art & design)- Besides their permanent collection (which always has free admission), they also have several temporary exhibitions like "Swedish Grace - Art & Design in 1920's Sweden" (until August 28th) and "Johannes Jaeger - a Pioneer and Master of Photography" (until April 24th).
"Swedish Acquisitions - Insights" at Moderna Museet
Photo by Åsa Lundén / Moderna Museet - Moderna (modern art)- this season the museum will be showing the following temporary exhibitions: "Every Ocean Hughes" (until April 17th), "Swedish Acquisitions - Insights" (until April 24th) and "Björn Lövin - The Surrounding Reality" (April 2nd to September 18th). They also have a permanent collection on exhibit which has free admission.
- ArkDes (architecture & design)- Their ongoing exhibitions are "Smoothies, Museums and Airports" (until May 1st) and "Sigurd Lewerentz - Architect of Death and Life" (until August 28th).
- Artipelag (art in archipelago setting)- besides their permanent "Sculpture in Nature" exhibition, they also have temporary indoor exhibitions, like "Tal R - The Wrongside" (until May 1st) and "Väx till Liv" (until May 1st).
- Thielska Galleriet (Scandinavian fine art)- they have a wonderful collection of Scandinavian masters (like Zorn, Larsson, Jansson, Munch and more) as well as temporary exhibitions like Carl Johan de Geer (until March 20th) and "A Home" (April 9th to August 21st).

Photo by Dag Fosse / KODE - Prins Eugen Waldemarsudde (Scandinavian fine art)- Also a museum with a great permanent collection. Their temporary exhibitions this season include "Soul of a Place" (until May 1st), Nikolai Astrup (until May 28th) and Ann Wolff (April 9th to October 2nd).
- Liljevalchs (contemporary art)- open again after renovations. They are currently showing their annual Spring Fair (until April 10th), Princess Swan White (until April 24th) and more. Click here to see other ongoing and upcoming exhibitions.
- Bonniers Konsthall (contemporary art)- They have two ongoing exhibitions: Lap-See Lam and Ouiti Pieski (both until April 3rd). One of their upcoming exhibitions this season is Hrair Sarkissian (April 27th to June 19th).

Photo by Jean-Baptiste Béranger - Sven-Harry's Konstmuseum (mixed art)- Currently they are showing "Talking to Åke" (until March 27th) followed by "Humanitet" (April 8th to September 11th).
- Millesgården (sculpture and mixed art)- The main reason people visit Millesgården (especially for the first time) is the wonderful sculpture garden featuring the work of Carl Milles, but they also have an indoor exhibition venue. Their ongoing exhibition is Madame d'Ora - Wien & Paris 1907-1957 (until September 4th).
- Spiritmuseum (spirits/adult beverages)- Their current art exhibition is Pierre & Gilles - Troubled Waters (until September 8th). Click here to read about my recent visit.
- Nordiska (Nordic culture and traditions)- They always have several interesting, ongoing exhibitions, some more in the world of art... like their current "Paris of the North" (until September 18th) and "Come to Norden" (March 11th to November 2nd).
