Restaurant: The Hills
I went out for dinner recently with some fellow expats to celebrate Thanksgiving. No turkey, but we still had a delicious dinner at the restaurant The Hills. I had been to the Hills a couple of times earlier, but usually just for drinks and mostly in the summer when they have a great outdoor seating area. So it was high time that I tried their menu!
The restaurant is located on the pedestrian part of the street Götgatan (called Götgatsbacken by the locals), which is just a 10 minute walk from the Hotel Rival. "Götgatsbacken" basically means Götgatan's hill and refers to the way the street slopes down towards Slussen and Gamla Stan. There are many restaurants, bars and boutiques on this street, making it a popular place for pedestrians to stroll. The Hills is open for both lunch and dinner, so it is a good place to take a break if you are shopping in the area.
The interior is beautiful with gorgeous tilework and a great central bar. Jonas Bohlin, the designer, has also done the interiors for other classic Stockholm restaurants like Sturehof and Riche. I would describe the menu as a mix of rustic French with Swedish cuisine. My colleagues had the Moules Marinières and I had the grilled Tuna steak, seared to perfection. Everything was delicious and the service attentive. If you wish to book a table at The Hills, visit their website or, if you are staying at the Hotel Rival, contact me directly for assistance.
